The 6 panel saliva drug test consists of a swabbing device to collect the saliva. Also there is a panel to place the collected saliva for a reaction test; there are 5 different reactions that can happen to indicate what drugs have been abused.  Most test also come with a container to send a sample to a laboratory for GC/MS testing if the test do in fact come up positive. Saliva drug testing is the most accurate form of self administered drug test. This is because saliva has many of the same properties of blood plasma, and blood testing is the most accurate form of drug testing but not very practical for most people.  This 6 panel test takes the variation of the NIDA5 test and adds another drug to its test. The drugs it tests for are as follows.

1. Cannabinoids (marijuana, hash)

2. Cocaine (cocaine, crack)

3. Amphetamines (amphetamines, speed)

4. Opiates (heroin, opium, codeine, morphine)

5. Methamphetamines (Crystal Meth)

6. Benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Rohypnol)

 Although this test strays slightly from the NIDA5 test, it is by no means of lesser quality.  This is because it replaces Phencyclidine (PCP, Angel Dust) with Methamphetamines (Crystal Meth). Methamphetamines are becoming popular and abused more and Phencyclidine is not abused as much as it once was. On top of this, it adds Benzodiazepines which are used for anti-anxiety and are also becoming popular among many white collar drug users.  These drugs make this test very popular for pre-employment drug screening where the NIDA 5 is not an issue.
